I am wondering if anyone else has experienced an odd taste when using their e-cigarette?

I received mine today and used a Menthol cartridge. It does not appear to taste like Menthol at all and has more of a bitter taste, or after taste is a better word. My NJOY was fully charged before I used it for the first time. I have noticed that if I take very small drags, I can feel the smoke and nicotine, but I just have been getting this nasty smell. Sorry as this is hard to explain a taste in words. I also noticed if I take a deeper drag, no smoke appears. Maybe I just need to get used to this new way.

I am wondering do the normal cartridge blends taste the same? Maybe my cartridge might be too strong. I chose the Full Flavor Menthol. Maybe a lower dose or another flavor?

I am also wondering if this is something you get used to over time? Any advice is most welcome.

Being a former menthol cigarette smoker myself, I have yet to find a menthol cartridge that’s good. If you’re using the Njoy, your best bet is regular flavor. I really liked that one.|||Well, the menthol burn is particularly strong in all of the brands I’ve tried. but I don’t think you’re talking about that.

I get a bad aftertaste, particularly on the very top of my tongue, and the back of the throat and mouth. Usually, it seems to be because the atomiser is too cold, and I think it’s leaving some of the liquid as a liquid mist, instead of true vapor. I haven’t had that problem with the Njoy, really only with the 117mm size, 3 piece minis. BUt maybe something like that is happoening with yours. Try giving your batteries a full 8 hours to charge, and try it again. If it still happens, amybe your atomizer is weak.

E-mail customer service at Njoy, and describe it to Mark. I’m sure he can advise whether you need a new atomizer, or maybe its the batteries.||| |||I want to thank you for writing and sharing your experience.

Since I am new to e-cigarette smoking, I have a lot to learn and discover. I did open a Full Flavor and smelled the cartridge and it has a odd smell to me. Maybe I just do not like the artificial tobacco like smell. I think the problem is I have not smoked in awhile and have used nicotine replacement medicines. The problem with the nicotine replacement is you miss the smoke and feeling of smoking. I guess they also set up a dislike for something that imitates a cigarette. I do not think it is my NJOY, I think it is me.

Another thought is I wonder if the Propylene Glycol is bothering me too. I seem to have a bit of a sore throat from my first day of trying my NJOY. Maybe I just need to give it some time to become used to this new way of satisfying a nicotine craving.

The other thing I have noticed is that the taste comes back a bit when the cartridge is dry or not feeding onto the atomizer correctly.|||Propylene glycol negatively affects about 10% of those who inhale it. This comes from studies in both Malaysia and New Zealand. It can cause a cough. It can increase mucus production. And it can cause a sore throat. It’s a humectant for many uses, and it dries out your throat. I’m one of those negatively affected by it. I feel it hitting throat and lungs — and my body says "Stop this right now." My addiction says, "Hey, it’s better for you than the cigarettes you used to smoke." So I keep e-smoking.

If you read the fact sheets at Dow Chemical on PG, you’ll find we’re not supposed to inhale the vapors for very long. That’s never been tested or studied. We’re all guinea pigs for a new use of PG.|||Thank you for the information. I guess this is no safer in the long run . I think it is time to go back to my nicotine replacement medicines. This has me worried and I have been on the NTR and thought this would make it a bit easier. Guess not.

Best wishes to all….|||Whoa. Did NOT mean to scare you off. The overwhelming consensus of researchers is that e-smoking is much, much safer than any smoking of tobacco. If the choice is between a cigarette and an e-cigarette, it’s no choice at all as far as your health is concerned. The e-cig wins by all measures. It’s just that there are no guarantees that you’ll die of cancer from smoking cigarettes or live to 100 by smoking e-cigs. It’s all about the odds. And the odds say if you need to smoke, choose an electronic cigarette.

Do some Google searches and read the horror stories about NRT gum, etc. You’ll nominate the e-cig for sainthood. You asked about the sore throat, and I answered honestly. But I dont’ want to frighten off a potential cig quitter.|||Hi,just my opinion, but it might have to do with cartridges being old. In my experience old cartridges when they get dark
start smelling bad.

Well as some of you know, tribalmasters is now the proud owner of a DSE901 from Smokester.

My previous penstyle from Pillbox tasted great with the original high strength cartridges and I miss the taste! I then discovered Pillbox does e.liquid. So what I want to know is does his e.liquid taste the same as the penstyle cartridges? Please help!!!!!|||Well, the liquid currently in stock is good..But not my first choice, that is great and will be here next week….|||well ive never tried any of pillboxes liquid…but i assume the regular tobacco flavour would be similar to what you had…you could ask pillbox i suppose…he’s on here most days now.

aww,youre like a proud father showing off your first born mate.|||oops,beaten to it by the man himself…|||HAHAHHA!!! Whilst I did think that the Pillbox penstyle carts tasted like digestive biscuits at first, after I got used to it and the atomiser wore in, I really liked it!

Having said that, now that the awful menthol has burned away from my 901’s atomiser, its tasting good too with the Marlboro!

Would still like some tho to enjoy next with my penstyle! I am afraid that its batteries are acting funny, one kinda flickers and the other stays on so needs a shake to stop it! the connectors when licked taste like e.liquid so after experimenting with dripping, I may have hurt them somewhat tho I will probably be able to fix them by cleaning them up

yeah,i know what you mean about those pen carts,they do taste good,especially in a new atomiser..in fact,im smoking one right now…

but have you tried the menthol in the pen?its actually really nice too…might be worth getting 5 just to try-you might like it.

i agree,the 901 menthols just dont work,and i cant figure out why..the other flavours are nice tho…i get a better taste from them in the 901 than the pen.

by the way,id order a battery or 2 if i were you TM…cos they sound like theyre gonna go bye bye soon.|||Yea I thought that I may have to chuck away the batteries and get new ones, I was not sure at all of how much to drip into the atomiser from the used carts, the penstyle is 2 weeks old, the carts I was reusing had gone brown tho so I can forgive myself!! It was my first ecig after all and I can always just buy the whole starter kit again and as a bonus, I get another lovely box

So I have 65 carts for my 901 and the syringe at hand should supply run out!!|||I ordered some liquid and a cigar a few days ago. From pillbox So I’m hoping to receive it quite soon now.
I ordered cigar taste/Marlborough taste/Turkish . So I will let you know my feelings on this liquid.
I did mention in another post that I tried his pipe Marlborough liquid which are used in cigarettes and personally I thought it was excellent. He did mention that he was not 100% sure that was designed for the pipe.
But they tend to use a stronger strength in the cigars. As when you look on sedansa site most of their cigars come with the Turkish blend which I have had a sample of which I thought that was excellent to that’s why I’ve also ordered one of their cigars plus they do a new cartridge called Cubana which is suppose to imitate a Havana cigar.
Whether that’s true we will find out as I have quite a collection of Cuban cigars anyway that gives me some idea what to expect .
I also have ordered a boat load of Turkish cigarette cartridges to.

Coor I decided to pull a woolie out one of my 901 carts, I was expecting a small woolie but its TINY! Its like 5 percent the size of a penstyle cart!! Its an interim cart so I expected the small size but not that small! Now I know the scale of things, think I will pull up a thread showing it compared to the new carts if I can find it!!

trog|||whats the point theres know way it will be as good as the DSE901.. for starters its to small..the batteries power will last about 2 minutes on your bulb test he he and you would be constantly refilling like with the super mini..|||The problem is it would take 12 months to ship

i want to buy some new carts and ebay seems the cheapest place. Do any of the carts on ebay fit kissbox classic. Also, how much e liquid do carts hold. Thanks guys|||Actually if you get the old style Janty cartridges, they are pretty reasonable. Better than ebay. I only use Janty carts in my kissbox classic.

Has anybody had success in finding a good cart core for replacing the old cores that came with the carts..ive heard on other threads posters using toy stuffing and fish tank materials…can anyone point me in the right direction to a material that you have been using in your carts and had good results with..and where to get some in the uk.

Kit|||its only fluffy nylon stuffing similar to whats in a cushion.. people attache qualities to it that it dosnt have..

cotton wool from the chemist would probably work as well as anything..

trog|||I stuffed part of a real cig into a 901 cart and soaked it down with some virginia.

Its a POS atomizer so why not.

It has been working for 10 minutes so far.

I’m sure a vegi matter would do less harm than synthetic.|||Early on, when I was still using E-Cig products, I bought aquarium filter material from a pet store. It’s polyester (not good to inhale if it burns or vaporizes!). I found that material to be identical to E-Cig’s cartridge filters.

As an experiment, I set fire to an E-Cig cartridge core and a compressed wad of polyester material side-by-side. Same melted lumps resulted. So I packed cartridges for a short time (proper compression is a problem). Then .. dropped it. Safety unknown. Dropped E-Cig. Safety really unknown.

I’ve concluced Janty carts aren’t so expensive that I can’t afford them. The longer I do this, the less happy I am with fiddling around with "make-do" stuff. I never rolled my own cigarettes (after trying it for awhile), so I’m not prone to "roll my own" e-cig cartridge cores. Just personal preference though.|||not much point for roll ups in florida bob.. us brits only do it to cut our massive smoking costs.. its cheaper..

a few years back we took some of our roll up tobacco to kentucky.. with a nudge nudge wink wink the waiters ask us if they could have some of the stuff we were smoking.. it seems the only people that smoke roll ups in kentucky add a little something else other than tobacco.. he he

trog|||To be honest with you trog we never smoked roll ups because it was cheaper as we probably used to spend 拢40 a week between the two of us as we always preferred the flavour and kick to your normal real cigarette and if we ever got given a real cigarette we always had to light up a roll up afterwards as we never felt that we had ever had one.

But when you do travel people do think because you smoke roll ups that you’re smoking the Green Green grass of home well that’s what they call it when we are in Jamaica and every time I’ve come out of the airport there five times in all I’ve been jumped on by somebody saying do you want something stronger mon and the last time I was there I got offered something stronger. I told him no thank you then he offered me two ladies instead.

This thing is vaping better than before. It is running a little warmer than usual. I am picking up a bit of a mellow nutty flavor which is quite good with the virginia flavor.|||keep us posted bear !|||i used to smoke Park Dive ned.. very similar to a golden Virginian roll up.. i mostly used to refuse a normal filter type cig..

i had a friend who use to pre machine roll them.. he used to get about twenty nice fat cigs out of an ounce of tobacco.. they were a quality cigs and much in demand down the nightclub.. he he he

it didnt work out cheaper doing it that way either.. one of his "super" fags equaled about four of my prison style efforts.. very nice things they were..

old holborn did have a taste all of its own thow.. i cant think of a ready made that tastes the same..

trog|||I’ve read a lot of good review on the Ruyan titanium E-cigar - let me know how you like it - I might get one for my hubby since the last one did not work.|||Those things aren’t cheap either (price-wise) so you’re getting an outstanding deal from that e-bay seller. Just hope you get a working unit.|||I have that exact same cigar. Bought it with 50 refills.

I love it. Had it a little over a month and it’s still working great.

It took some getting used to though not seeing any vapor when you exhale.

They did something right when they made it. The screw on cartridges. The one-way valve so liquid cannot get into the battery chamber. Good battery life. Great vapor production. I have a review somewhere on here…

Though one thing I noticed about it is it works best with the Ruyan liquid/cartridges. I tried dripping other liquid and it just didn’t seem to do as well. I think the Ruyan liquid vaporizes at a lower temperature or something.||| |||i have seen them on heavens gift before.. they dont seem a bad sellor.. the only problem i have is the postage per item ebay thing.. thow it might be possible to get more than one small item for the same postage..

Yup it just had to happen didn’t it !! This weekend I ran low on carts for my DSE901. Tuesday my new carts will arrive from Smokester along with some stylish black ecig parts for my DSE901. We were going on an outing and my friend asked if we needed to buy cigarettes and I said NO WAY!! The only thing I long for is more carts and not cigarettes! So they lasted through the weekend but tonight I had squeezed the last cart out and was sad that I would have to wait to vape again. Luckily, I found a nice, unused juicy tobacco penstyle cart to squeeze into my 901 carts what great luck! I am now once again surrounded by plooms of vapour for now!!

How do you guys cope when the carts and liquid all dry up?|||i also keep the "melange" (great term..reminds me of the pint of slops from the drip tray) and make sure an order is in to prevent it happening. i usually give myself a working-week for any deliveries. atts and batts..keep a working 4 and cycle their use. when 1 dies, i’ll order the replacement. only the one device at the mo, but im gonna be branching out soon.

I’m really not trying to bash any companies. Everyone has their right to sell anything they want… But a lot of the people on this forum know would think the same thing if they ran into it on their own.

I ran into this website the other night that sells a mini-cig.

The address is Welcome to ECigarettes.com - E-Cigarettes Welcome!. They sell an ultra mini cig. So I checked the price of it, and it was $199 US?? Why would it be so expensive. Minis are usually the cheaper of the e-cig forms.

On their info page they say that the battery lasts one week at normal usage.. Which they say is equivelant to a pack of cigarettes a day. I’ve never heard of a battery that could last that long. And it’s a mini… Wow.

Okay so they say on their website they’ll refund $100 of the purchase price if you quit smoking in three weeks or less. What if you don’t want to quit smoking? What if you just want to replace part of your smoking with e-smoking. Then on their info page in the fine print it says the offer is only good for the first 100 customers, and is only valid until 05/31/08. Soo… nevermind.

They say they have a 1 year warranty on all parts. They’ll ship you a replacement free of charge. Then you send them the broken one and they’ll refund your shipping cost once they determine the part is broken. okay…. Then they say there’s no warranty on broken, damaged, or misused parts.

He only sells zero nic carts, and your $200 cig only comes with 5 carts.

I could go on more but I’ll stop there.

I think I remember a post way back where someone mentioned this website and the story about his wife dying of lung cancer, but I can’t find the post.

I just want to know if anyone actually buys or has bought anything from this place. Do they get any business?|||I remember that thread BB. He got trashed on the forum, I recall, because of the inflated claims for the device as a cessation product. I believe there was a reality-style TV show alongside it following a control group all using this method to give up smoking The zero-nic cart thing pretty much guaranteed everyone tanked. I thought at the time that the guy just wasn’t addressing the elimination or reduction of burning tobacco, which is pretty much the point of these things.

Final consensus was nobody here would touch the guy with a bargepole. I suppose he might do OK with impulse buyers, but anyone who went a little farther into it would come across Meltrex or Smokester, and then he’s sunk.

Emp|||It is, indeed. This man lives in Cape Coral not far from me and he convinced WINK-TV to "test" the miracle electronic cigarette he sells at great profit. Chosen subjects would use an e-cig with zero-nic cartridges and would wear a patch or use nicotine gum if they needed to. The test was a total waste of time. And the TV station kept repeating in broadcasts that electronic cigarettes have no nicotine in them. That "test" warped public perception of e-cigs as viable products. It’s hard to "undo" that kind of damage. Several of us posted accurate information on the TV’s blog site, but for every person that read it, another 10,000 only heard "no nicotine" over the airwaves.||| |||Thanks for the link. I’ll go back and read it.
